Temperature in Hanoi expected to drop to 7-8 degrees Celsius

According to the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center, prolonged cold waves are expected to trigger frost appearance and a blanket of ice in the Northern mountainous areas in the next several days.

Currently, the Northern provinces and cities are experiencing deep freeze.  

In the early morning, temperature in the capital city of Hanoi dropped down to 10 degrees Celsius, reducing 1 degree Celsius over temperature yesterday. 

Meanwhile, chilly temperatures in the mountainous provinces averaged between zero degree and three degrees Celsius.

In the recent days, hoarfrost appeared in the peak of Fansipan Mountain, Sa Pa (Lao Cai), peak of Chieu Lau Thi (Ha Giang), Khau Pha Mountain Pass and Mu Cang Chai (Yen Bai), peak of Ngu Chi Son (Lao Cai), Dong Van (Ha Giang) as the temperatures in the areas plunged to 0-3 degrees Celsius. 

From tonight, the temperature is forecast to continue reducing sharply. The massive cold air mass is expanding to the Central region.
