Overseas Vietnamese students
Mr. Truong Hung, head of the EF Service Centre B.V’s Office (234 Dien Bien Phu Street, District 3) sent an official document on May 11 to the Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper in response to a series of articles entitled “Behind the Overseas Cultural Exchange Study Trips by EF Viet Nam”.
It was alleged in the articles that actual purposes of the trips were, among other things, tax evasion, illegal overseas money remittance. Following is the content of the document:
“After the Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper had published three articles on May 21, 22 and 23, concerning the activities of EF Service Centre B.V’s office, we held a number of meetings with clients who had misgivings about our overseas study programs in Canada, as well as sorted out issues with students’ parents. In addition, we realized our mistakes in doing business.
We are now open to any ideas of the Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper and will try our best to fix the mistakes. We appreciate the constructive suggestions of the Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper.
Head of the EF Service Centre B.V’s Office”
It is noteworthy that Mr. Truong Hung earlier sent a strong formal protest to appropriate authorities, the media, the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Vietnamese embassies in Canada, Switzerland and the European Trade Council in Viet Nam after the three articles had been posted.
But in a meeting with the Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper, Mr. Truong Hung acknowledged EF’s mistakes when faced with the clients’ evidence presented by the newspaper.
