In the past few years, Quang Ninh Province has focused on growing science-technology and applying information technology to create a strong foundation for its sustainable and fast development.

In the opening speech, Standing Vice Chairman of the Quang Ninh Province People’s Committee Dang Huy Hau stated that this conference is a necessity when many regions nationwide are carrying out their own project to develop a smart city along with the digital transformation process, as instructed by the central government and the Ministry of Information and Communications.

According to Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA), the appearance of cutting edge technologies like artificial intelligence, virtual reality, big data, and blockchain has allowed people to accelerate digital transformation more conveniently. In that process, developing smart cities to become a socio-economic and innovative center for education, scientific research, manufacturing, and trading seems unavoidable.

The conference included two seminars on ‘Applying Digital Transformation to Build a Smart City’ and ‘Digital Transformation in Key Industries’. Experts of related fields freely raised their voices, shared their knowledge and experience about comprehensive architecture as well as characteristics of sustainable smart cities. They also presented solutions on digital transformation for healthcare, education, sea port management, and tourism.

Quang Ninh Province took advantage of this chance to introduce its achievements being a pioneer in IT implementation and smart city development.

The conference attracted nearly 500 delegates from 11 provinces and cities nationwide, along with 16 members of APICTA. The closing session and APICTA Awards 2019 ceremony will be held on November 22, 2019.
