Twelve of the 54 nominations for the ICT Light the Hope awards are the work of handicapped people themselves, say the event’s organizers.

They include an online newspaper for handicapped people by Trinh Cong Thanh of Ha Noi, an online IT manual by Tran Ba Thien of Ho Chi Minh City, a forum for the handicapped by a group in Ho Chi Minh City, the Hanoi-based Sao Mai Forum, a basic course in music for blind people, a training project for blind people by Le Dinh Tuan of Bac Ninh, and a website for hemophiliacs by Nguyen Van Thanh of Da Nang.
The Light the Hope awards are for individuals and organizations that come up with outstanding ICT products for the handicapped and will be presented to the winners on April 18.
The organizers are the Viet Nam Association for Information Processing, the National Coordinating Committee for Disabled People and the National Steering Committee for Information and Communication Technologies.
