Information Security workshop reveals rise in internet hacking

A workshop co-organized by Vietnam Information Security Association and Department of Information and Communications in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday specified clearly that internet hacking was on the rise.

The workshop was held on the occasion of the 4th Vietnam Information Security Day.

Participants at the workshop agreed that this year hackers have indiscriminately hacked into a number of websites, including those of prominent organizations, businesses and individuals.

Within the month of June alone several websites of state organizations were hacked. By November 7 more than 300 websites ending with ‘.org.vn’ were attacked.

Over 150 websites ending with ‘.com’, ‘.net’ and ‘.vn’ were crashed into in one single day in October. Hackers have been resorting to stealing information as well as making changes in data files in websites owned by large groups and corporations.
