Vietnam Digital Transformation Alliance formally formed

The Vietnam Digital Transformation Alliance (VDTA), comprising of giant domestic information & communications technology (ICT) companies and research institutes, made its debut yesterday in Hanoi. Members of this alliance include FPT Group, Viettel, VNPT, CMC, VNG, Hai Hoa Co., MobiFone, VSII, VINASA, and Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

The Vietnam Digital Transformation Alliance is the idea of the Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA) to gather leading ICT firms in Vietnam to aid the central government as well as businesses in boosting the national digital transformation process.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of VDTA, Mr. Le Dang Dung, temporary Chairman cum General Director of Viettel, stressed that VDTA has the goal of inspiring the general public about the necessity of digital transformation, actively carrying out this process to form a foundation, infrastructure, and suitable services to make way for other domestic enterprises and the society to follow.

To achieve that, VDTA pledges to be united and active in contributing to finishing the suitable institution and legal corridor for digital transformation in Vietnam.

It will also join forces to develop the digital infrastructure, including perfecting the national broadband networks like 4G or 5G, expanding the optical cable grids to connect each household in the nation, growing a virtual telecommunications network and cloud computing services, making better use of Internet of Things (IoT), developing open platforms and application programming interface (API) to create a fair playground for both the community and businesses.

In addition, VDTA is going to focus more on implementing cutting edge technologies like Big Data, Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, 5G, IoT, 3D printing while purposely sharing experience on basic, application, and commercial researches to create more novel products for the society. Digital service ecosystems such as digital payment, e-commerce, digital content, or sharing economy will also be the concentration of this alliance.

Another aim of VDTA is to ensure information and cyber security for individuals, organizations, companies, and the whole country via state-of-the-art technologies.

Finally, the alliance is planning to try its best to train local human resources and attract international ICT talents to work in Vietnam.

In the near future, VDTA will expand to include any capable businesses.
