VN wins one gold, two bronze at Int’l Informatics Olympiad

Vietnamese students excellently grabbed one gold and two bronze medals at the 29th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2017) in Tehran, Iran yesterday.

The gold medal went to Le Quang Tuan, the 12th grader from High school of Hanoi Pedagogical University.

The bronze medals belonged to Nguyen Hy Hoai Lam and Pham Cao Nguyen, the 12th graders of Quoc Hoc Hue School (Hue National High School) and High School of the University of Natural Science in Hanoi respectively. 

IOI 2017 attracted the participation of 308 students from 84 countries and territories in the world.

Vietnamese team will return home on August 5.
 The organizational board offered total 26 gold, 50 silver and 76 bronze medals.  

Vietnam was ranked 17th among 84 participating countries, and the only country in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) owning the gold medal. 

Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha sent his congratulation to the winners, and would hold  a welcome ceremony for Vietnamese team at Noi Bai International Airport tomorrow. 

The International Olympiad in Informatics is an annual international informatics competition for high school students from invited countries.
