Viet Nam Airlines Cuts International Fares

Viet Nam Airlines has launched low-cost international flights to compete with other carriers for a short time.The national carrier also has “Free & Easy" tours with price of a Budget or Executive tour including a round-trip air ticket, two nights’ hotel accommodation with breakfast, and airport transfers from Ha Noi or HCMC to Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong or Guangzhou until December 31.

An economy-class return airfare to Melbourne and Sydney is US$738 and US$777 until November 30 (excluding tax and miscellaneous charges). Unwanted tickets can be returned for a fee of US$50 by October 31.
                
The economy-class return ticket from Ha Noi to Bangkok is reduced to US$70 and Singapore US$110 until Oct 31, and to Kuala Lumpur US$135 until December 31.

And flying from Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur is only US$158 until October 3, and to Moscow US$600 until October 15.

The national carrier is now thinking of competing with Cathay Pacific, which is charging US$185 for a flight from HCMC to Hong Kong between September 1 and November 30.

Viet Nam Airlines also has “Free & Easy" tours from Ha Noi or HCMC to Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong or Guangzhou until December 31.

The price of a Budget or Executive tour includes a round-trip air ticket, two nights’ hotel accommodation with breakfast, and airport transfers.

The budget option from Ha Noi to Bangkok is US$199 and US$209 to Singapore or Kuala Lumpur; US$229 from HCMC to Bangkok and US$239 to Singapore or Kuala Lumpur.

The executive package costs US$ 359 (Ha Noi-Bangkok) and US$409 (Ha Noi-Singapore/Kuala Lumpur); and US$399 (HCMC-Bangkok) and US$459 (HCMC-Singapore/Kuala Lumpur).

Pacific Airlines is another local carrier discounting its fares. Until the end of October, a one-way flight between HCMC and Ha Noi is VND1.2 million, and a return ticket VND2.52 million, and passengers aged between two and 12 years get a 75% discount.
