At a largely ceremonial event at the Sukru Saracoglu stadium, Roberto Carlos, flanked by members of the Fenerbahce board, signed the deal for the cameras, clad in the Istanbul club's navy and gold strip.
"I am very proud to be wearing this strip," the 34-year-old said through a translator. "My dream is to win the UEFA Cup in this strip."
"Fenerbahce are the greatest, Fenerbahce are the champions," he said in Turkish as fans shouted "I love you Carlos."
Roberto Carlos will join four other Brazilian players at Fenerbahce, who are coached by Brazilian legend Zico. The Turkish heavyweights began chasing the player last year, but the former international decided to stay on with Spanish giants Real Madrid until the end of his contract.
During his tenure with Real, Roberto Carlos won three UEFA Champions League titles (1998, 2000 and 2002) and three Spanish La Liga crowns (1997, 2001 and 2003).
Fenerbahce capped their centenary year this season with their 17th league title, but departed early from the Champions League.
