The International Tennis Federation has chosen Vietnam as the host country for the Asia-Oceania Zonal Group-II relegation play-off matches between Vietnam and Sri Lanka, which are slated for April 4-6.
After success in the Davis Cup 2013, the Vietnamese team was promoted to Group II.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lankans have played in Group II since 2012 and stand at 62 nd position in the world rankings, 10 places higher than Vietnam. The team lost to the Philippines earlier this month in their first round tie in Colombia.
The loser will be demoted to Group III in 2015.
According to Nguyen Quoc Ky, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Vietnam Tennis Federation, the Vietnamese team will gather its strongest players for the matches.-VNA
