VN temporarily ranks second position at 29th SEA Games’ medal tally

The Vietnamese sports delegation was temporarily ranked the second position with an achievement of 44 gold, 29 silver and 34 bronze medals followed by the host- country Malaysia at the 2017 SEA Games’ medal tally.

In the competitive day of August 25, Vietnamese delegation bagged as many as six gold medals in the categories of swimming, track & field and Sepak Takraw. 

The six gold medals belonged to Nguyen Huu Kim Son in the men’s individual 400 meters medley; Nguyen Thi Anh Vien in the women’s individual 400 meters medley and 50 meters backstroke; Bui Thi Thu Thao in the women’s long jumping; Nguyen Thi Oanh in the women’s 5,000 meters jumping; the Vietnamese athletic team. 

The three silver medals went to Nguyen Thi Anh Vien in the women’s 200 meters breaststroke; Pham Thi Hue in the 5,000 meters track and field; and Nguyen Duy Hoang in the 50 meters shooting.  

The two bronze medals went to Paul Le Nguyen in the men’s 50 m freestyle event and the Vietnamese female Sepak Takraw team. 

The host- country Malaysia is the first position with total 68 gold, 45 silver and 45 bronze medals.
