Phuoc Loc is the most affected commune in Phuoc Son District, Quang Nam Province as recent storms bringing landslides and flash floods left 13 people dead and missing, damaged traffic infrastructure, buried and isolated tens of households for the past 15 days.

The People’s Committees of Thua Thien-Hue Province has asked the Rao Trang 3 Hydropower Plant Joint Stock Company to halt all construction activities at Rao Trang 3 Hydropower Plant project following deadly landslides.

The latest weather news from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorology Forecasting showed that hurricane Goni entered the Central Philippines and downgraded its intensity this morning.

The search and rescue force in Phuoc Son District, the Central province of Quang Nam reported they have found five bodies of 11 people who were buried by a landslide in the very early morning of October 29 at Phuoc Loc Commune. 

In the Sunday evening of October 25, search and rescue operation of missing workers at Rao Trang 3 hydropower plant in Thua Thien Hue Province has been temporarily suspended because the continued heavy rainfall and flooding comes as typhoon Saudel has entered central Vietnam, said head of the office of the provincial People's Committee, Tran Thi Hoai Tram.

A memorial service was held for 22 soldiers who were buried in a landslide in the North Central province of Quang Tri  on October 22.

The Provincial People’s Committee of Ca Mau yesterday declared an emergency situation about landslide at the western sea dykes and plans to protect lives and property of residents. 

According to the local authorities of Quang Tri Province, traffic has been resumed in the entire Ho Chi Minh Road to the West and the path to Cop Village after debris of a landslide, which buried  22 soldiers of Defense Economics Division 337 in the North Central province of Quang Tri, was removed. On October 19, the dead bodies of all 22 soldiers have been found.

A memorial service for the 13 officials and soldiers who were killed by a landslide during their rescue operation at the Rao Trang 3 hydropower plant in the central province of Thua Thien – Hue took place on October 18 morning.

The Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control held this morning an urgent meeting to carry out searching and rescue missions at Rao Trang 3 hydropower plant landslide in Thua Thien- Hue Province as well as verify, approach the landslide site at the Defense Economics Division 337 under the Military Region 4 of the Vietnam People's Army.
