Central region needs to take precaution against storm Saudel

From tonight to the morning of October 26, the Central provinces from Nghe An to Thua Thien- Hue are prone to medium-heavy rainfalls of 50 to 150 mm due to an impact of storm Saudel, according to the National Center for Hydro-meteorology Forecasting.

Winter-spring rice farming areas expected to reduce to avoid saltwater intrusion

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held a conference to review the production of the autumn-winter rice crop and the seasonal rice crop of 2019 and deploy cultivation plan for the upcoming winter-spring rice crop in provinces in the Southeast region and the Mekong Delta on October 11 in Tien Giang Province.

Seafood export rushes to achieve target

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development set seafood export target at US$10 billion for this year, but after the first eight months of this year, seafood exports merely reached $5.4 billion, down 2.6 percent over the same period last year. Therefore, from now until the end of this year, authorities and enterprises must promote seafood export in order to achieve the target.

Agricultural sector discusses solutions to prevent commercial frauds

The Ministry of Industry and Trade on August 21 collaborated with the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to hold a conference on ‘The EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA): Important commitments in agriculture and remarkable issues’ with attendance of the Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong and Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang.

Export of fruits faces several technical barriers

Exports of fruits have continuously grown, reaching US$3.8 billion in 2018 and aiming at $4.5 billion by 2020. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), vegetables in general and fruits in particular have a great potential for export because global demand for vegetables and fruits is extremely high. However, import countries have set up several technical barriers about food safety, forcing exporters to comply with.
