Traffic accidents surge in New Year Holiday, killing 110

There were 147 traffic accidents killing 110 people and injured 61 others during four holidays, when people flocked back to their hometowns, according to the country’s National Traffic Safety Committee.

The National Traffic Safety Committee in cooperation with the Hanoi Traffic Police Department has launched a campaign themed “No alcohol concentration behind the handlebars” in Hanoi on June 10.

Committee urges to tighten control on transportation

The National Traffic Safety Committee yesterday announced in seven days of Tet festival, 218 traffic accidents killed 195 people and injured 199 others, a year-on-year decrease of 41 percent on accidents, 4 percent on deaths and 52 percent on injured people.

The National Traffic Safety Committee has announced 20 hotlines to receive complaints about traffic problems during the 2018 New Year holiday and the following spring festivals.
