Hand-foot-mouth and dengue fever cases are increasing at an alarming rate, said Dr. Le Hong Nga from the Center for Disease Control in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday.
A total of 5,427 cases of dengue fever have been recorded in Laos so far this year, with nine fatalities, the Health Ministry of Laos said on August 25.
The dengue fever is now in its peak season in many provinces especially in Ho Chi Minh City, the Mekong delta and the Southeast region with dengue cases highly increasing compared to the same period last year; accordingly, health authorities have made attempts to battle the disease but the prevention task bumped into difficulties.
