HCMC’s budget collection at VND2.9 trillion per day

Reporting to the Government, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Vo Van Hoan affirmed that the city’s economy had positive growth, with budget revenue hitting VND2.9 trillion (US$125.7 million) per day. The city was neither subjective nor panic in the prevention of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Bright economic appearance after 35 years of innovation

Generally reviewing the country's economy after 35 years of implementing policy reforms, the draft political report of the 12th Party Central Committee submitted to the 13th National Party Congress stated that the socialist-oriented market economy continued to grow; macro-economy was stable, with the growth rate maintaining at a fairly high level; the quality of growth had been improved, and the scale and potential of the economy had increased.

Production, business activities in HCMC remain effective

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, assessed that the proportion of domestic revenue in the total budget collection in the period from 2016 to 2020 had increased from 62.1 percent to 71.45 percent. This shows that production and business activities remain fruitful.

Internal strength of HCMC on increase: Chairman of municipal People’s Committee

Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, said that in the period from 2016 to 2020, the proportion of domestic revenue in the total state budget revenue in the city increased from 62.1 percent to 67.6 percent. It shows that the production and business activities of taxpayers continue to be effective, and the internal strength of the city’s economy is on the increase.

Vietnam’s economy – bright spot amid Covid-19 pandemic

Despite the disruption of supply chains, Vietnam's gross domestic product (GDP) still rose by 3.68 percent in the first quarter. In the second quarter, the economy nosedived with the growth rate merely at 0.39 percent. In the third quarter, GDP growth recovered to 2.62 percent, sending the three-quarter growth rate to 2.12 percent.
