E-commerce growth of Vietnam achieves 18 percent in 2020

According to information from the E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, last year, the Covid-19 pandemic caused difficulties to the global economy and disruption to production and business activities. However, it helped the e-commerce growth of Vietnam to reach 18 percent, with a scale of US$11.8 billion.

One million people working in IT industry in Vietnam

Statistics from the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) reveal that the revenues of the IT industry last year were around US$100 billion, accounting for a third of the national GDP. Among them, 12,000 businesses earned $11 billion. In Vietnam, there are now 1 million employees in the IT industry, including 250,000 software programmers.

Higher level of cyber security needed for national digital transformation

The Government has asked the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) to prioritize mastering the ecosystem for Vietnamese cyber security products in order to best serve demands arisen from the process to establish an e-government, smart city, and essential national databases, as well as carrying out the national digital transformation.

CMSC Data Exchange Platform formally launched

The Commission for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises (CMSC) yesterday cooperated with Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) to hold the conference ‘Establishing an E-government and Performing Digital Transformation in Enterprises’, along with the official introduction of the ‘CMSC Data Exchange Platform’.
