My very first visit to Vietnam was on a warm sunny morning on the first day of September in 2009. As my flight was landing in Tan Son Nhat Airport, the aerial view of Ho Chi Minh City from my window seat was truly fascinating, showing quaint tube like houses that resembled Lego blocks, with the flowing waters of the Saigon river meandering through the City.

Rampant traffic jam keeps occurring in the entrance gateways to HCMC, especially areas surrounding Tan Son Nhat International Airport and Mien Dong (East) Coach Station in days near Tet holiday every year. However projects meant for reducing the traffic jam have been stagnant due to complicated procedures.

HCMC and aviation authorities have taken measures to ensure security at Tan Son Nhat International Airport and ease congestion in and around it during the Tet (Lunar New Year) rush.
