The General Statistics Office of Vietnam has just announced that the consumer price index in October this year has the same increase of 0.09 percent compared to the previous month and December last year, the lowest level in the period from 2016 to 2020.

Vietnam’s economy – bright spot amid Covid-19 pandemic

Despite the disruption of supply chains, Vietnam's gross domestic product (GDP) still rose by 3.68 percent in the first quarter. In the second quarter, the economy nosedived with the growth rate merely at 0.39 percent. In the third quarter, GDP growth recovered to 2.62 percent, sending the three-quarter growth rate to 2.12 percent.

HCMC urgently upgrading traffic facilities for economic growth

Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) has been exploiting several resources to improve its traffic infrastructure to make way for its comprehensive development. Credit growth hard to accelerate at year’s end

According to the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), by September 16, credit growth of the banking industry reached 4.81 percent. Although the State Bank of Vietnam has recently raised the credit growth limit for some effective credit institutions capable of expanding healthy credit into sectors serving economic growth, general credit in the banking system is still growing sluggishly.

GDP expected to increase by 6.5 percent in 2021

The socio-economic report drafted by the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) states that with the annual growth rate estimated at over 2 percent, aiming to reach about 3 percent, Vietnam is the country with the highest positive growth rate among five major economies in Southeast Asia (ASEAN-5). And it is one of the 16 most successful emerging economies in the world.

HCMC’s economy in recovery

The report of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City on the situation of industrial production and commercial activities in the city in the first eight months of this year has shown many bright spots with basic indexes of industry, retail sales, and exports all making increases, although the increases were not as high as those in the same period of previous years.
