The second Da Lat city will be built on more than 5,000 hectares in Dan Kia - Suoi Vang ( Gold Stream) tourist area by four famous Japanese investors Mitsubishi, Sumitomo, Limtec and Mitsui with the total investment of more than US$ 1 billion.
Nearly 400 households will be relocated in other places. The total capital of site-clearance and relocation compensation is about VND 250 billion. The project is expected to start in June 2006.

Masses of treeless hills in Dan Kia will be full of flowers. Besides, there will grow here the most beautiful rose garden in the world, with more than 5 million trees of hundreds of kinds. This "Rose Center" is not only a place for enjoyment, but its flowers will also be exported to many countries around the world.
The spirit of this "Romantic town" is flowers. There is a harmonious combination between such are available as lakes, hills, pine forests… and new things, for examples 30,000 villas, elderly-homes, sport and cultural center, monastery, church, three deluxe hotels with 100-300 rooms, school, hospitals, golf club and Opera Theater... The Japanese investors will turn Dan Kia – Suoi Vang area into an exceptionally perfect tourist city in the world.
Da Lat Tourism taking off
Mr Nguyen Trong Hoang, director of Lam Dong Tourism Department, says that he is very satisfied with this project, not only in its diversified products, but also in its planning and architecture which are nicely based on European style and quite suit Da Lat’s past values. He added: "When the "Romantic town" is completed, Da Lat’s tedious tourism will grow excited and luxurious".

In addition, Mr Huynh Duc Hoa, chairman of Lam Dong province People’s Committee said that Lam Dong authorities are on the run to hand Dan Kia over to investors in March 2006, and that if the Japanese investors can soon finish all the procedures, they will begin construction of this project in June. Besides, up gradation of the Lien Khuong international airport will also be completed in June 2006. Da Lat Tourism will take off once DanKia is woken up by this international project.
Formerly, at the end of 1960, Japanese people surveyed and worked out an investment plan, but they had to discontinue because of war. Now they are determined to come back to this project.
Mr Tsutomu Takebe, Secretary General of Japan Liberal Democratic Party, is the one who had an idea of a "Flower Tourism" seminar between Japan and ASEAN in Da Lat in early December 2005. This was the start of the "Romantic town" project.
