HCMC welcomes more than 7.7 million international visitors

According to Deputy Director of the HCMC Department of Tourism Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, the city has welcomed more than 7.7 million international visitors this year, an increase of 14.3 percent over the same period in 2018, reaching 91.4 percent of this year’s plan.

In November, the city received 793,000 international visitors, an increase of nearly 13 percent over the same period of last year.

Total tourism revenue in the first 11 months of this year reached about VND 134,300 billion, up 6.5 percent over the same period and reaching 89.5 percent of this year’s plan.

Last month, the department Inspectorate inspected and issued fines totaling more than VND228 million on travel agencies and accommodation establishments.

Regarding to tourism security, the tourism order force under the Voluntary Youth Public Benefit Service Company had handled 386 cases of taxi drivers, street vendors and beggars bothering tourists, up 26 cases over the same period last year; guided visitors to report to the police about the cases of thefts; and solved three scuffles causing insecurity.

In addition, the Department of Tourism had also discovered four cases of using fake guide cards and reported to the General Department of Tourism as well as relevant authorities to handle.
