High-speed boat linking Can Tho, Con Dao launched

A high-speed boat ferrying passengers between the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho and Con Dao island in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province will be put into operation starting on December 11.

The Con Dao Express 36 is recognized as the largest of its kind in Vietnam by the Vietnam Records Organization, according to the Phu Quoc Express JSC.
The boat will depart from Can Tho’s Ninh Kieu Wharf to Tran De seaport in the southern province of Soc Trang to pick up and drop off passengers before continuing its journey to Con Dao.
The Can Tho – Tran De – Con Dao route will start at 7 a.m. in Ninh Kieu Wharf in Can Tho and return from Dam Wharf in Con Dao island at 1:30 p.m.
The ship transporting 600 passengers in the cabin and 100 on deck per trip from mainland to the island, cutting travel time between Can Tho and Con Dao to 3.5 hours. It has 46.85m length, 12.2m width, traveling at a speed of 35 nautical miles per hour.
