The city of Thai Nguyen in the northern province of the same name will hold a tea festival from February 26 to 28 to promote its own tea, Vietnamese tea brands, and tea-drinking in general.
The event in Song Cau Park will give visitors the opportunity to learn about Vietnamese tea culture and the delights of Thai Nguyen tea.
There will be demonstrations of tea-making and the best way to enjoy the beverage along with activities such as tours of tea-growing villages, a fundraising auction of special tea, and a competition between the practitioners of modern and traditional ways of processing green tea.
Members of the Thang Long Antiques Club and the historian Duong Trung Quoc will do their bit to revive an interest in Vietnamese tea culture by displaying their collections of new, old and very old teacups, mugs and pots. Mr. Quoc will also give a talk on getting the most out of the green leaf.
The festival is being organized by the Thai Nguyen Department of Culture and Information, Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper, and Nevi Trading Development Solutions Co. as part of the province’s National Tourism Year 2007.
