The tour called “Friendly Tourism Road” crossing four countries along the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) including Viet Nam, Laos, Thailand and Cambodia was officially opened in Da Nang City yesterday.
The delagation consisting of more than 50 enterprises nationwide, left Bo Y border gate in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum this morning for cities in Laos, Thailand, and Cambodia.
The group aims to examine the conditions of the countries, the potential for tourism, and the ability to connect some of the tourist hot-spots in the EWEC. The businesses involved hope to create a unified plan for maximizing tourism potential. They will examine how tourism contributes to socio-economic development, specifically through tourist products.
In addition, the tour is to strengthen cooperative relations between the four countries, said Mr. Vu The Binh, head of the department of travel under the Viet Nam’s National Administration of Tourism (VNAT).
The tour, jointly sponsored by the VNAT and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, will terminate on October 22, in Ho Chi Minh City, the final destination.
