Transport over-booked for holiday weekend

Although coach companies increased the number of services from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Lat it was still not enough to meet demand for the Hung kings’ anniversary weekend.

With Hung Kings’ Day landing on the weekend and the bank holiday being moved to Monday, people have taken advantage of the long weekend with bookings to Da Lat increasing.

During April 3-4, the numbers of high quality coaches from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Lat were increased trips but were still not enough.

The director of Phuong Trang Co., Luu Phuc Thong, said his company had mobilized five more coaches a day (45 up from 40) to Da Lat but it was still not enough.

Thanh Buoi Co. increased the number of trips by 10 – 15 per day but with the number of people going to Da Lat double that compared with normal days, demand was always going to be high.

Airlines were also inundated. VNA brought out its bigger planes to ferry an increase in passengers from Hanoi to HCMC and Da Lat.

Most hotels in Da Lat were full-booked from April 4 to April 6, with most guests from Ho Chi Minh City.

According to reports, some hotels did not take advantage of the demand and kept prices as normal.
