Vietnam Airlines among top four Southeast Asian airlines with high throughput

The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines (VNA) has been selected one of the top four Southeast Asian airlines with passenger capcity exceeding 20 million people last year.

According to statistics from the Center for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA), the airline transported 20.6 million passengers in 2016, presenting a year-on-year increase of 19 percent.

The carrier is also one of the airlines that achieved strong growth in the region.

The other three carriers on the list were Malaysia’s Air Asia, Indonesia’s Lion Air and Garuda Indonesia.

In January 2017, the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines was honored with many titles, such as “Golden Brand Name” by the Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper, “Most favourite carrier” by Ho Chi Minh Television. The carrier was also voted among top ten successful ASEAN firms in China by the China-ASEAN Business Council.

VNA was voted as having the Best Business-Class Seat Design on their widebody planes used for long haul flights, Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, by travelers who are readers of the Chinese Global Traveler Magazine in last December; and one of the Top 10 Most Improved Airlines by the UK-based airline review organization Skytrax in last June.
