The boat, built by the Ministry of National Defence’s 189 One Member Limited Liability Company, measures 46.85m in length and 12.2m in width and is able to carry up to 598 passengers.
It is set to be put into use in the first quarter of 2019 on routes linking Vung Tau city and Con Dao Island of the southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, and Tran De Port of southern Soc Trang province and Con Dao Island.
With a maximum speed of 35 nautical miles per hour, it will considerably reduce the time needed to travel between Vung Tau and Con Dao, two famous tourist destinations, to three hours.
Con Dao Express 36 was launched one year after five other catamarans, also built by the 189 One Member Limited Liability Company, were put into operation in Phu Quoc, Nam Du, and Hon Son islands of southern Kien Giang province.
