Soca Warriors Hope for Faint Entry

Dwight Yorke and his team-mates still hope to have a ticket for the round of 16 before Paraguay and Trinidad & Tobago heading into their Group B’s final match in Kaiserslautern on June 20.

Trinidad & Tobago can only progress to the second round if it beats Paraguay with three goal difference and England defeats Sweden. However, pundits considered that it is not an easy task for the Soca Warriors because Paraguay appeared to play better.

Sydney FC’s striker Dwight Yorke said, "I am sure that England will help us in defeating Sweden while we are doing our job here in Kaiserslautern. The most important thing is that we must give ourselves an opportunity and when other people think that we can not make it, we will make it."

On the other hand, Paraguay failed to negotiate the group phase once again after losing in the previous two matches against Sweden and England.

Although the South American team showed good performances in these two matches, it was out of luck. And now, in their last match in FIFA World Cup 2006, Paraguay will surely try its utmost to perform well and with a spirit of fair play and honor.

Trinidad & Tobago and Paraguay had two friendly encounters in March 1989. Both were drawn, 2-2 and 1-1.
